Sarah Altic, Owner

M.S., CCC-SLP

Sarah is a state-licensed, ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist with over 15 years of experience in a variety of settings including schools, home health, early intervention, and private practice working with children of all ages. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in speech pathology from Purdue University. Sarah is PROMPT-trained and enjoys working with children with apraxia, as well as speech sound disorders, and expressive language delays in toddlers. Sarah started Discover Speech Therapy in 2017 to meet the growing need for speech therapy services in our community and to create a welcoming, supportive place for both clients, families, and her team. She loves seeing her team and clients build lasting relationships and watching our clients become effective communicators!

When she’s not working, you can find her doing yoga, spending time in nature, or baking sourdough bread.

Nicola Holt

M.S., CCC-SLP

Nikki is a certified speech language pathologist licensed in Tennessee. She received her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has worked mainly in the pediatric outpatient setting, and has experience working in the areas of speech and language skills, early intervention, and autism. In her free time, Nikki enjoys spending time hiking, mountain biking, and camping with her husband and children.

Lisa Morris

Front Office Coordinator

Lisa graduated from Carson-Newman University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. She has work experience in social work, program supervision, grant writing, and administrative work. As Front Office Coordinator, Lisa enjoys working with our team by assisting our clients and therapists with any documentation and administrative needs.
In her free time, Lisa enjoys playing guitar and piano, doing DIY projects around the house, practicing and teaching yoga, and spending time with her husband, 3 daughters, and 2 dogs.

Rosemary O’Brien

M.S., CCC-SLP

Rosemary is a certified speech language pathologist in Tennessee. She received her undergraduate degree from Murray State University and master’s degree from Purdue University in 2020. She has had experience working in the school and outpatient clinic settings. She enjoys working with children with early language skills, articulation, and fluency. She loves being part of a team with children and their family members, in order to help children continue learning and communicating effectively with others.

M.J. Jameson Wright

M.S., CCC-SLP

M.J. is a licensed speech-language pathologist holding the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. She earned both her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee. Since graduating, she has lived and worked in Texas and Tennessee. Most of her work has been in school-based, homecare and outpatient clinic settings, supporting children ages birth to 12 years. M.J. is experienced in evaluating and treating clients with early language needs, autism, feeding disorders, and other speech and language needs. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dogs, as well as hiking and listening to podcasts.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, and credit cards (VISA, MC, DISCOVER, AMEX). 

What is the process for getting my child started in therapy?
  1. Contact us! Call, email, or click the “contact us” button on the main page.
  2. If using insurance, we will verify benefits and coverage for your specific plan.
  3. We will contact your child’s pediatrician for a signed order for speech therapy.
  4. We will send you the intake paperwork via a secure online portal for you to sign electronically and submit back to us.
  5. Once those are done, we will contact you to set up an evaluation at our office.
  6. The evaluation will be completed and if your child qualifies, a treatment plan will be created with goals for therapy.
  7. Therapy begins!
What is involved in an evaluation?
  1. A standardized assessment will be completed by one of our speech-language pathologists.
  2. In addition, other informal assessments such as a language sample, oral mechanism exam, or intelligibility rating may be completed.
  3. Parent interview to understand your concerns and goals for therapy to develop a plan together.

Sick Policy

Discover Speech Therapy, LLC will follow the policy below in regards to illness.

All clients must cancel their appointment when they demonstrate any of the following symptoms within 24 hours of an appointment:

  • Fever (>100 degrees F)
  • Vomiting/Nausea
  • Open/Draining Lesion
  • Lice
  • Chicken Pox
  • Measles
  • Contagious cough
  • Impetigo
  • Conjunctivitis/Pink Eye
  • Strep Throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Any Other Contagious Disease Not Listed

Following this policy will aid in the protection of the health of the staff, other patients, and family members and is greatly appreciated.

Attendance & Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of an Appointment: If an appointment needs to be canceled, please provide at least a 24-hour notice. In an emergency situation (sudden illness within the last 24 hours, illness of a family member, and/or death in the family), please provide as much notice as possible.

Late Cancellations and/or No Shows: A “late cancellation” is a non-emergency cancellation made within 1 hour of the scheduled appointment. A “no show” is not arriving for your scheduled appointment without notifying Discover Speech Therapy prior to the scheduled appointment time, and/or being more than 10 minutes late for the scheduled appointment. After three (3) “late cancellation” or “no show” appointments, a client may be asked to move to a flex schedule.

Regular Attendance:  If a client attends less than 75% of scheduled appointments in a given calendar year, a client may be asked to move to a flex schedule.

Arriving Late: If a client arrives more than 10 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, a client will be asked to reschedule their appointment.

Flex Schedule: A flex schedule allows you to schedule therapy week to week based on your therapist’s availability. If attendance improves on a flex schedule, you may be added back to the regular schedule. If attendance does not improve on a flex schedule, a client may be discharged.

Make-up Sessions: Please make every attempt to reschedule a missed session. These sessions will not count as missed sessions if they are rescheduled for the same week.
Flex schedule and discharge decisions are made at the discretion of Discover Speech Therapy and can be made at any time. Notification will be provided in writing.

Title VI Notification and Complaint Process

Discover Speech Therapy, LLC complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000d et seq.), which states that “no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Any person who believes that discrimination has occurred by our practice on the basis of race, color or national origin, including limited English proficiency (LEP), in violation of Title VI may file a written complaint with the Tennessee Human Rights Commission. Individuals with LEP may request interpreter services, at no cost to the individual. Complaints must be filed within 180 days of the alleged discriminatory act. A complaint may also be placed directly to our practice.
